About Me

My name is Mrs. Horan. I am a very proud Edwardsville Native.  As a graduate from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville I earned my degree in Elementary Education and I have earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have classroom experience on the kindergarten, first, second and seventh grade level in rural, urban and metropolitan settings.  I taught second grade for seven years and this will be my fourth year teaching kindergarten in the Edwardsville school district.  I am married to my husband Brian and I have two children, Charlie (6) and Eydie (4).  These opportunities have taught me to be resourceful, encouraging and especially patient.  

In addition, I have had the opportunity to fulfill one of my passions, teaching dance.  For over twelve years I have taught performing arts around the Madison County area earning a teaching certification in the Enrico Cecchetti (Ballet) Method.  Through this training I have learned to work with large performance groups with ages ranging from three to adult.

Furthermore, it is my goal to engage my students 100% of the time.  I want each of my students to know that they are important and everything we do in my classroom has a purpose.  I am extremely excited to be a part of the Glen Carbon Elementary kindergarten team and to share my love for learning with all of my students.
