Consequences

In the chance that someone does not follow the class rules, I feel it is important for the students to be held accountable for their actions. Students will have natural consequences for their actions in a timely manner.

1. Verbal reminder (I will model appropriate behavior and brainstorm better choices).

2. Teacher will note the behavior in a notebook and student will correct the behavior. (Examples of fixing a kindergarten mistake are cleaning up a mess, telling a friend sorry, practice using manners, putting away a toy after improper use, or redoing an assignment).

3. Student will have a conference with the teacher reinforcing classroom expectations and will receive an "Oops" note to be signed by a parent.  If I do not get the Oops note back, I will email or call the parent.

4. If a behavior cannot be resolved students will be sent to the principal with an office referral. If the behavior continues I will schedule a meeting with the parents.

*Severe disruption will mean immediate #4 above. (Note; the letter home or phone call is not meant to be a punishment but a time for the parent, teacher, and student to reflect and resolve behavior in order to achieve a more cohesive social and learning environment).   If any behavior continues over an extended period of time and it is disruptive to the learning environment or hindering the student(s) in any way a daily goal chart will be generated.  This chart will be agreed upon by the teacher and parents and put in the take home folder as a daily communication tool.

Whole Group Incentive

There will always be a phrase written on the board.  Some of the phrases might be; pajama party, popcorn and movie, board games, super hero day.  Each time the class is caught working hard, transitions quietly, or are being team players they will earn a star.  Once a star has been earned for each letter of the phrase, the students earn their reward. Notes/emails will go out each time students earn their phrase so you can give your Miners a pat on the back and prepare for the reward accordingly!
